This is a new walk for us with Gay (and Mary) as leaders. She says "it's just about 5mls (with a bit of meandering!). I have tried to make it easily accessible but unfortunately not including a pub on the way, although Bovey has several 'watering holes'.It will start at Parke, the Dartmoor National Park HQ at Bovey Tracey. Through woods along the river and a little up the old Bovey-Moretonhampstead disused railway line."
To find the start (10.30 as always):-
From Exeter:
A38 Exeter to Plymouth, turning off at Drumbridges (signposted Newton Abbot/ Bovey Tracey/Moretonhampstead. Also brown tourist signs Trago Mills, Stover etc.,)
At top slip road round roundabout to Bovey Tracey/Moretonhampstead turning (4th exit) on through traffic lights
Up to Texaco garage on left and another roundabout - take A382 Town centre/Moretonhampstead turning (2nd exit)
Up to next roundabout (Bovey Tracey Fire station on left) take left turn signposted Haytor/Becky Falls
Entrance to Parke 200yds on right. Continue up drive over cattle grid left fork over 2nd cattle grid, past Heritage Pony Centre up to higher 'visitors' car park.
From Plymouth:
A38 Plymouth to Exeter turning off at Drumbridges then follow instructions as above from "At top slip road round roundabout"
Plenty of water on route! Toilets at Parke HQ and I believe there is a cafe!
