Basset Hound Walkers at Exmouth

Exmouth

Photo from Mike Chapman, an Exmouthian.

Instead of walking over luscious paths and hills - and admiring distant seascapes from hilltops - preferably in Somerset - it seems the only way of attracting a large pack of Bassets is to organise a DEAD FLAT walk. So bowing to the inevitable Gay has had her arm twisted to lead this walk along Exmouth beach at the first opportunity of out of season hound walks on the beach. I'm not sure how far we can wander along the beach before we get cut off by the tide and make national news - "how many Basset Hounds can you get in a lifeboat? I can see the headlines now.

The last time I walked at Exmouth the beach was crowded with lissome lycra ladies competing in some life saving championships, but sorry chaps, that good fortune is unlikely to happen twice in a lifetime.

She says that Queens Drive long stay car park is probably best charges are £3 for 3 hours £4 for 4 hours. (This is the road that runs along the front to the lifeboat station: very conveneint, maybe).
Directions are follow Sea Front signs continue on promenade past Premier Inn (EX8 2AZ) Turn right at Ocean Bar & Grill & Queens Drive car park is accessed off left by the Carriage Cafe where brown tourist sign says Amusement & Leisure Park.

This will be our 91st walk by the way.

So see you there then: 10.30 am start as ever.
