Baset Houndn Walkers

Tracks & bridleways round Tottiford Reservoir (led by Gay and Mary)

This walk is on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, north of Bovey Tracey, and am assured by our walk leaders - will be flat. And no steps.

(Coincidentally Channel 4 Time Team did a dig here in Feb: see here)

To find the start (10.30am):

Coming from Exeter: Take A38 – Exeter to Plymouth dual carriageway, about 3-4 miles past Devon & Exeter Racecourse take left turning signposted Chudleigh Knighton/Kingsteignton/ Teign Valley/Finlake , turn right at top of slip road. 200yds, on left hand bend, turn right signposted Teign Valley/Dunsford/Trusham/Christow (B3193 top photo right: beware of fast oncoming traffic). Continue 2 miles - turn left signposted Hennock.

Right fork to go thro’ Teign village continue into Hennock turning right at top of hill. Climb left handed uphill opposite the Palk Arms pub (see photo bottom). Continue 2mls or so to Bullaton Cross where there is a car park for Trenchford Reservoir ignore this and turn right continue onto to next X roads turning right and Tottiford Reservoir car park is on the right. (Grid ref: SX811828).

There are signs to the Reservoirs but we will put out Basset Hound Walker signs on the day.

Coming from Plymouth: take A38 towards Exeter - take turning marked Chudleigh/Teign Valley.  Left at top of slip road, taking right turn marked Teign Valley/Dunsford/Trusham/ Christow and proceed as previously directed.  Watch for Basset Walkers signs.

Most of the roads are of typical Devon lanes – narrow with high hedges and blind corners. PLEASE take care

See you on the day.

Not quite sure what this gentleman is trying to do: ask Gay on the day.
