Want to lead a walk?

If you want to organise a walk in your area, please let me know and I'll put it up on this site. Criteria: 5+ miles, with some woods or open moorland for a good run and ideally finish near a pub or café.

We last did this walk in February 2010 when if I remember rightly, the low mist spoiled the lovely views which leaders Gay and Mary assued us are there. (And you can see how much younger and more sprightly you were then by clicking on the video here.) Harcombe, part of the Forestry Commission Woodland at Haldon is just south of Exeter. It is about a 5 mile meander through woodland tracks convenient to the car park. And probably little need to carry water!

Directions from Exeter:
Take the A38 towards Plymouth climbing up to Haldon. Just past the Devon & Exeter Racecourse is the Haldon Forest Cafe turn left (as though going to the cafe but continue along the narrow lane) and travel half mile and on the left is Harcombe car park.

Directions from Plymouth:
Take the A38 towards Exeter turning off left at the petrol station also signposted for the racecourse. Continue to junction and turn right, then left, as you need to get back on the Plymouth bound carriageway then follow directions as above turning left for the Haldon Forest Cafe.

See you there - Gay & Mary. (Any problems email Gay here)
